some thoughts about kitchens
You spend a lot of time in this room! Most of the time this means work! Storing groceries, preparing food, cooking and cleaning up. Ergo the kitchen is a workplace - which means function has to come first, but it still should look nice!
'Form follows function - that has been misunderstood. Form and function should be one, joined in a spiritual union.' (Frank Lloyd Wright)
... in the kitchen this union is extremely important.

Re-doing the kitchen is a major investment - before you go ahead with it you should spend some time analyzing your needs and wishes. Like:
- how many persons are - on a daily base - in your household
- how much of this kitchen 'stuff' (dishes, small appliances, tools etc) do we really use often, do you have things you actually don't use anymore
- do you love to cook
- ...
As your designer we will lead you through this process and will give input and ideas on layout, material and color - but you as the user have to determine the direction and ultimately you have to make decisions.
some 'crazy' thoughts...
To find your way - you need to dream and also explore the not so usual ideas - here are some:
- get rid of at least 1/3 of all the things you store today in your kitchen
- don't care what your neighbors have or what your mother in law says you need
- the meal itself will not be better if you spend more money on the kitchen cabinets - but you personally could be in a better mood
- work in the kitchen should not be a 'one-woman-show' - husband and kids should also participate - therefore give them some room
- the kitchen is the center of your daily life - let's make it the center of your home - the point where family and friend meet
ready?
